Identification of polymer compounds by spectroscopic analysis: FTIR analysis

Identification of polymer compounds by spectroscopic analysis:
FTIR analysis

We analyze the spectra of the polymer sample by following ASTM methods: D3677, D 2124, D 2238, D 2702, D 5477, D 5576, D 5594, and D 5670, D 6248.

We have IRAffinity-1 FTIR spectrometer. We have facility to analyze any form of sample such as powder, liquids, films, soft and hard rubbers. We have software to manipulate peak table along with peak area. We do qualitative analysis, semi quantitative and quantitative analysis of polymers and fillers. We have more than 10,000 reference graphs of rubbers, plastics, additives. We have algorithm software to analyze particular wave number for presence or absence of particular functional group.

We analyze the following

  • Identification of vulcanized and unvulcanized sample.
  • Identification of hard plastics.
  • Acrylonitrile content.
  • Blend ratio analysis.
  • Copolymers content.
  • Type of plasticizers and fillers.
  • Residual unsaturation in copolymers.
  • Binary and ternary blends by infrared analysis.
  • Reverse engineering of probable additives.
  • Effect of oxidation.
  • Type of cross linking.
  • Comparing the unknown sample with known sample.
  • Effect of varying additives in standard formulation.
